Truly, Ian Steere, we hardly knew ye. The freshman big man is transferring from NC State, according to a report from Jon Rothstein, and at this point I doubt it comes as a surprise to anybody. Steere left the team abruptly last week after playing sparingly in the Wolfpack’s season-opener.
When you know, you know, I guess.
Kevin Keatts said Saturday that he planned to sit down and talk to Steere about his future in Raleigh on Monday. Clearly that did not alter Steere’s thinking in any way.
If he felt like NC State was the wrong choice and that he was going to spend all season at the end of the bench, then hey, might as well get out now. I get it. It’s difficult not to wonder if something else has been going on, though.
I’m disappointed we won’t get to see him develop here, but again, he’s gotta do what he thinks is best for him.
