Highlights: Omer Yurtseven stepping up in big ACC games

NCAA Basketball: North Carolina State at North Carolina Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Hey remember when Omer Yurtseven had a couple rough games against some undermanned teams early in the season and we were worried that maybe he’d never figure things out? Yeah, me neither. No recollection of that whatsoever. Ahem.

Yurtseven has not only realized his potential to a big extent, he’s also been NC State’s best player at the offensive end, especially in league play. He is currently riding a four-game streak of at least 16 points and has gone for 20+ in three games.

In league play, he ranks among the top 10 in effective field goal percentage, two-point field goal percentage, offensive rebounding percentage, turnover rate, and block rate, all while accounting for a significant chunk of the Wolfpack offense.

I don’t know if that ends up being good enough to earn first-team All-ACC honors, but he will be in that discussion if he keeps producing at this rate. Can’t say I could have seen that coming.
