Forward Darius Hicks is transferring from NC State

Not the most surprising news in the world.

NCAA Basketball: Notre Dame at North Carolina State Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

NC State sophomore forward Darius Hicks is leaving the program. According to the News & Observer, Hicks told Kevin Keatts about his decision on Monday. Hicks has been recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in November.

Hicks was probably never going to factor into the rotation at NC State, so I’m not surprised that he’s opted for a better shot at playing time elsewhere. I’m still curious how his role within Keatts’ defensive press might have developed this year had he not gotten hurt, though. Alas, some questions must go unanswered.

Hicks played in 21 games as a freshman but logged double-digit minutes only four times. He hit double figures in scoring only once as a member of the Pack—against Bryant earlier this season.

All the best to Darius at his next stop.
