I’m sorry about that, Torin

Your December blog posts always haunt you.

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-First Round-North Carolina State vs Seton Hall Peter G. Aiken-USA TODAY Sports

Probably I should be more aware of this by now, but it never occurs to me that the people I write about might see said thing I write. This internet site has grown a lot, but I was kinda shouting into the void for like 10 years before anyone noticed that this site exists. All of which is a roundabout way about getting to a post with which Torin Dorn apparently took issue.

It was not my intent to insult Torin with that post; it was a stray observation during the dull non-conference season. Torin Dorn is a lot more than just a cupcake killer—ask UNC about that. He had a great season, and he’s obviously an ACC-caliber player.

If that post served as some motivation this season, then that’s great. Maybe this means I can take full credit for that win in Chapel Hill. (Under no circumstances could that be true, but still). It was never my intention to imply that he didn’t belong on this level. He clearly does. And he has another big year in front of him.

It’s weird to me the reach I have, and also if you were wondering, Torin Dorn finished the 2018 season with a 51.8 two-point percentage against KenPom top-100 teams. He made 56% of his twos in league play. Those are good numbers for players who assume a high workload, which Dorn did.
