CJ Bryce picked a heck of a time for his best game in an NC State uniform, especially with Braxton Beverly continuing his shooting struggles while assuming the makeshift point guard role. The Wolfpack needed everything it got from Bryce in order to pull off the win in South Bend.
It was a badly-needed win, not just to put that Wake performance in the rearview, but also because of the looming five-game stretch ahead. Four of State’s next five opponents are in the KenPom top-20, and three of those are in the top 10. Fun! Well, y’know, it could be, if Markell Johnson is healthy.
The Pack didn’t shoot the ball well on Saturday, though the Irish weren’t effective either and finished only 7-28 from three. NC State had a more focused approach at the offensive end, and didn’t settle for a zillion threes the way it did in Winston-Salem, which was a big reason why the outcome was different.
