NCAA Basketball: ACC Conference Tournament-Virginia vs North Carolina State Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Kevin Keatts didn’t go into any detail regarding the nature of DJ Funderburk’s suspension from the basketball team during the team’s media day on Thursday, explaining only that Funderburk he hasn’t met the expectations of “what I think a NC State player should be.”

Keatts said that there is no timetable for Funderburk’s return, so obviously there is some work for Funderburk to do before he gets himself out of the dog house. Keatts added that Funderburk is not currently practicing with the team or otherwise participating in team activities. And of course, Funderburk did not participate in media day.

Here Keatts’ complete presser from this afternoon, via The Wolfpacker:

Or, if you prefer the transcript, that’s right here.

Keatts had high praise for transfer forward Pat Andree’s shooting ability. And when asked about non-conference scheduling, Keatts said that they didn’t schedule anybody below 300 (I assume in the NET; he didn’t specify) but they had one such opponent forced on them as a result of their participation in the Barclays Center Classic. That weak opponent will be counter-weighted by Memphis, at least.
