NC State’s point total on Wednesday night doesn’t look impressive, but that’s why putting a performance into context with tempo is so important. Wisconsin is one of the slowest teams in the country, and they made it very much a halfcourt game—there were only 58 possessions in the contest.

Sixty-nine points in 58 possessions is 1.19 points per possession, which is an excellent number in general and really good considering that Wisconsin came in ranked 29th in defensive efficiency. State had a great night at the offensive end.

After that effort, NC State is up to ninth in adjusted offensive efficiency. The last time NC State finished a season with a top-10 offense was 2013. Of course, there’s a whole lot of games to be played yet, but this may be the best offense of Kevin Keatts’ tenure.
