NC State decided apparently this was a good time to mine new levels of embarrassment and disaster, and after Tuesday night, I don’t know what is left to say. It’s been an astonishingly dejecting few days, going from one extreme of pathetic display to the other. Twenty-four points against Virginia Tech one night followed by a series-record number of points to UNC the next.
If this stretch broke this Wolfpack team for good, I wouldn’t be surprised. What a shame, though, after things started with such promise. But it’s all come apart at the seams, and who knows how Kevin Keatts could go about putting this back together before the team is sunk for good.
They aren’t there yet, not yet entirely toast, but at 4-6 in league play and probably on the outside of the NCAA tournament field, it’s going to take a speedy resuscitation to salvage anything. My confidence in that happening is, shall we say, a bit low.
Basketball is bad and dumb.
