NC State point guard signee Jalen Lecque is one of 66 pro basketball prospects to receive an invite to the NBA Draft Combine, which begins late next week. Markell Johnson, on the other hand, will not be attending. Johnson also was not invited to the NBA G League Elite Camp.
Which may not suggest anything about Markell’s thought process at all—if he wants to be done with school, the feedback he’s getting might not matter to him at all. Never know with these things.
As forJalen Lecque, I”m not sure we should even bother entertaining the idea of him playing in Raleigh anymore. NC State’s most recent grad transfer addition put the program over the NCAA scholarship limit and that seems a clear signal to me that Lecque intends to skip college and keep his name in the NBA Draft. There’s no room for him on the Wolfpack roster anymore.
