Here in tidy form is a visual for how little NC State’s basketball program has accomplished since 1997, over the span of four different head coaches. That was kind of depressing to write just now.
Ken Pomeroy put together program ratings for all of D-I since ‘97, with more recent seasons more heavily weighted. NC State slots in at 38th, which seems about right considering that the Pack has made the NCAAs less than half of the time over this span, and when the Pack does make the NCAAs, it is frequently in the 7-10 seed range. Smacks of 38ishness if you ask me.
Okay, so we’ve been in a little bit of a rut since 1997 and said rut is old enough to drink but I am confident that we’re about to hop on out of this thing any decade now. Really, it’s right around the corner I’m sure*.
(*I’ve been saying this for approximately 15 years.)
