NC State aims for series split with UNC, and clearly there’s nothing to worry about

Nothing, nothing at all, I tell you!

As NC State’s rematch with UNC nears, are we nervous, folks? Of course we aren’t nervous. What could we possibly have to be nervous about? Give me one single thing that should theoretically prove somewhat worrying when— hm? The entire last 15 years’ worth of series history, you say? Oh, right right right right. I’m always forgetting about that. You make a compelling point.

While it’s true that all of us could mope around wallowing in the misery that has been NC State’s experience in this series, looking for comfort in self-pity, that’s what we do all the time, and it’s not that much fun.

I intend instead to express a dangerous, over-the-top level of confidence, which I am certain will inspire the basketball team to adopt a similar frame and play accordingly. We can’t forget that despite all evidence to the contrary in the first meeting, UNC is not very good, and not very good in a variety of ways.

Cole Anthony’s return hasn’t changed UNC’s trajectory in any meaningful sense, and like countless others on that team, he is a blow average shooter. NC State surely has learned a lesson or three to apply at the defensive end on Tuesday night, and the Tar Heels don’t often need much encouragement to struggle. Should be a piece of cake. May not even be a need to watch.
