NC State assistant coach Takayo Siddle will be the next head men’s basketball coach at UNC-Wilmington, replacing C.B. McGrath, who was fired mid-season. Siddle has been with the Wolfpack since Kevin Keatts’ arrival in Raleigh.

Siddle was also an assistant on Keatts’ staff at Wilmington for three years, so it’s not surprising that the Seahawks would make the move to bring in someone who is already familiar with that program. UNCW fell off a cliff rather quickly after Keatts’ (and Siddle’s) departure, and finished this season 312th in the Pomeroy Ratings.

Now we’ll see how Kevin Keatts approaches this vacancy on his staff. He’s been here before—A.W. Hamilton left for the head gig at Eastern Kentucky a couple years ago, and Keatts hired Roy Roberson to replace him. A strong personal connection with Keatts has been a consistent factor in his hiring decisions up to this point, so don’t be surprised if that continues.
