It’s like deja vu all over again.

NC State signee Josh Hall announced on Twitter that he will enter his name into the 2020 NBA Draft and go through that process while maintaining his college eligibility. Hall is a consensus top-50 prospect in the 2020 class and is NC State’s highest-rated recruit.

NC State just went through this with Jalen Lecque, who would have been a freshman on the 2019-20 team but instead opted to turn pro. That worked out just fine for him, because he received a four-year contract from the Phoenix Suns, with two years guaranteed, despite going undrafted.

Hall would likely have to chart a similar route, though I don’t think he is considered the same level of prospect that Lecque was. It seems more likely that Hall will get what feedback he can and enroll at NC State in the fall.

But who knows, really. For what it’s worth, here are Kevin Keatts’ comments on Hall from a radio interview a couple of weeks ago:

I would say it’s more likely that he’ll end up here. With Jalen [Lecque], from the time we recruited him there were a lot of conversations about that. I haven’t heard that on Josh’s end. I think Josh is a young man that wants to play in college. He understands the value of having at least a year under his belt to go on and be able to play. He’s talented. Anytime you’ve got a guy that is draft eligible and talented, anything can happen. But I haven’t heard any of those rumblings as much as I did when Jalen was coming through.
