Kevin Keatts: ‘I’m the Zoom master of the world now’

NCAA Basketball: Florida State at N.C. State Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Kevin Keatts went on Jamie Shaw’s Absolute Basketball Experience podcast (Shaw works in prep basketball locally) to talk about a variety of things, from his roots in coaching, path to a college head coaching job, and his thoughts about the 2020-21 NC State team.

I learned that Kevin Keatts played quarterback in high school and was a successful one at that—not surprising, given that he is a winner, obviously. Keatts mentioned that he had a “great backcourt” on those teams before correcting himself with “great backfield,” which made me chuckle.

The first portion of the podcast gets into Keatts’ background in basketball coaching, but if you want to get straight to the NC State-related stuff, that’s about halfway through. He offers a bit on each newcomer on the team (and he clearly loves Dereon Seabron, who is some sort of mythical legend already), while reiterating several times that he’s pretty happy with the team he has on hand. He is also a Zoom expert now.
