DJ Funderburk signs with agent, putting official end to college career

DJ Funderburk never planned on taking the optional free year of college eligibility and this week made that official by signing with a sports agency. While Funderburk won’t be selected in the upcoming NBA Draft, he’ll definitely make money somewhere next season, and with the window to do that so brief, you can’t blame him for moving on from college.

It’ll still be a little strange not seeing him in an NC State uniform—same with Braxton Beverly—and it’s too bad that the Pack never could establish a really good team around him.

Funderburk was as consistent and effective as anyone could have hoped for at State: 59.5% on twos his first year, 64.2% his second, and 59.9% this past season. The Wolfpack won’t have the good fortune to lean on that production any more.

I’d expect DJ will be a good player overseas, and who knows, maybe after some time improving his game there, he’ll earn himself a shot in the NBA. I wish him all the best.
