A new event at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut will host NC State, Oklahoma State, Central Connecticut State, and UMass Lowell in mid-November. These four schools will each play a pair of games as part of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase.
For NC State specifically, this means a game against CCSU on Tuesday, Nov. 16, and a game against Oklahoma State the next day. We don’t have tip times or television information yet, but I figure the Wolfpack-Cowboys game will be on TV somewhere.
The CCSU game amounts to a gimme (the Blue Devils finished last season 345th in the Pomeroy Ratings), while Oklahoma State should be a good challenge even with the Cowboys missing soon-to-be-top-NBA-pick Cade Cunningham. This is the kind of opponent that’s worth playing early in the year to help Kevin Keatts get an idea about how his younger guys may fit into the rotation.
NC State’s non-conference schedule also includes games against Bucknell, Louisiana Tech, Richmond, Purdue, and Nebraska.
