Dayes of Thunder

Matt Dayes flirted with Vanderbilt after the ouster of TOB and was even reported to have given James Franklin a verbal this morning, but that news proved to be erroneous. Click here and you will see some very good news: Dayes has recommitted to run with the Pack.

Dayes, a 5-10 195-pound (or 5-8, 200, depending on the source) running back out of Weston, Florida, may be the jewel of the class. Rivals ranks him as the 27th best running back in the class of 2013. Scout rates him as the #59 RB and shows an impressive offer list that includes Miami and several SEC programs. Dayes will join fellow three-star RB recruits Josh Mercer and Dakwa Nichols to give the Pack some much-needed depth at the position, as Shadrach Thornton and Tony Creecy are the only returning scholarship backs in 2013.

Here's a recruiting video of Dayes that, like all recruiting videos, doesn't tell us much. It appears his high school coach's game plan was to hand him the ball and see if he could outrun everyone to the edge. More times than not he could, which is a good thing.
