Brandon Mitchell '50-50' For Syracuse Game

Brandon Mitchell is back practicing, which might put him on schedule to start this weekend, but there are plenty of considerations for the staff to handle. NC State could (theoretically) beat Syracuse without him, and the Wolfpack has a bye week after the game against the Orange. Practice this week will be useful in determining the strength or weakness of Mitchell's foot-stremity.

Mitchell, who has missed the past four games with a broken bone in left foot, said there's a "50-50" chance he'll play in Saturday's home game against Syracuse, but ultimately coach Dave Doeren will decide.

"(Coach) doesn't want to put me in a position where I have a setback," Mitchell said. "If I'm still feeling good, without having any soreness or pain, then I'll play on Saturday."

I'd really, really like to see this offense run by Brandon Mitchell for more than a trio of series. It could well end poorly, and I'd understand if it did. I want to see what this staff pegged as its routine coming into the year, when maybe cowardly quarterback pooch punts didn't feel so necessary.
