Drew Allen Considering NC State, Tundra

Christian Petersen

NC State is a finalist along with Syracuse for pro-style quarterback Drew Allen, who is transferring from Oklahoma. Being a graduate transfer, he can play immediately. Allen is a Syracuse lean, apparently:

The source said Allen will choose between those two schools, and is leaning toward Syracuse because he likes the Orange's offensive system.

Allen's visit to Syracuse was first reported by ESPN.com. Syracuse is looking to replace Ryan Nassib, a four-year starter who is projected as a second-round selection in this month's NFL Draft.

Regardless of Allen's choice, the implications regarding Pete Thomas and Manny Stocker seem evident enough. Then again, Allen isn't exactly a pistol offense prototype--he is a pro-style quarterback with good size and I don't know where the difference lies between himself and Thomas. There is a huge gulf in experience between the two, to Thomas' advantage. Maybe Allen is better suited to handle Dave Doeren's new system in 2013, but I don't see much sense in bringing in a mercenary to run the show for just one season.

That said, clearly we should all be panicking about the quarterback situation. DOOM.
