One minute you are quietly perusing your Twitter feed and then suddenly, from nowhere, the red lights begin to appear.

This is now the signal that a player has verbaled to NC State, and in this case the coaches are talking about in-state safety Germaine Pratt, who is a consensus three-star prospect with offers from UNC, Tennessee, and Notre Dame, among others. That's an impressive offer list (though I've learned in working with Bud Elliott that not all offers are actually committable offers because recruiting is a strange, strange thing) and Pratt is regarded as one of the top 20 prospects in the state of North Carolina.

There's also quite a bit of disagreement between Rivals and the rest of the recruiting world on this kid. Rivals considers him a four-star prospect and the No. 189 overall prospect in the class of 2014. The consensus rankings have him all the way down at No. 438 overall. But anyway, good get for the staff, and it's always nice to see the Wolfpack getting things done in-state.

Pratt is the eighth sixthish commitment in State's 2014 class.
