After three-star athlete/cornerback Mike Hughes makes his announcement later this morning (expect red lights), NC State's recruiting attention will turn to another major in-state target: four-star running back Johnny Frasier. Frasier committed to Florida State back in the summer but it seems like rumors about a possible decommitmen have been tossed around ever since.
On Saturday night, the ACC Sports Journal gave substance to those rumors when it reported that Frasier did finally decommit from FSU ($). They are standing by the report despite a quick refutation from Frasier's high school coach. Frasier wasn't pleased with the ordeal either.
Despite some media reports, Princeton HS coach Derrick Minor says RB Johnny Frasier is still committed to Florida State. #HSOT

This being football recruiting, who the heck knows what happened. We are getting close to National Signing Day and the peak of silly season, after all. Whatever the case between Frasier and Florida State, it's pretty clear that he is still weighing his options, and NC State is one of them. He may end up visiting Raleigh next month, in addition to Alabama.
Florida State running back commit Johnny Frasier said after the Shrine Bowl he'll probably visit Alabama and NC State in January.

If Dave Doeren managed to flip Frasier, it'd be a hell of a flourish to cap a recruiting class that's been built around North Carolina talent. Frasier might be the best player in NC--depends on who you ask--and he is widely considered one of the top 75 players in the country. He's ranked 41st overall by 247Sports, which considers him the best running back in the 2015 class.
