The red light finally flickers after a strong run

After adding a third commitment during the weekend, the numbers in the Pack ranks went down by one when defensive lineman Jabari Zuniga switched his commitment to Florida on Monday night.

After a strong run for NC State on the recruiting trail, the Red Light finally fizzled out some. Sleeper commitment Jabari Zuniga flipped his commitment to Florida on Monday night after being committed to NC State for about two months. The new coaching staff at UF made the defensive lineman a priority and quickly got him on campus two weeks ago. After his visit, Zuniga announced that he would decide on the 26th after a visit to Arkansas, which portends bad news for the school a prospect is committed to.

Zuniga was a great late find by the Wolfpack staff, so the loss undoubtedly hurts. He was a productive player in a competitive region of Georgia with a great burst at the line of scrimmage. The Pack withheld a run from Clemson, but the Gators were too much to overcome. With his loss, there is likely an open spot left in the class, but it remains to be seen if it will be filled. Luckily for State, the defensive line has been taken care of well in the 2014 and 2015 classes.

On the bright side, Sunday meant another addition to #Pack16 in corner James Valdez. The South Carolina defensive back is a four star, top 150 player on Scout.com and a high three star on Rivals. Offers from UNC, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Wake Forest this early mean that the Pack look to have made a huge splash in the class. At 5'11", Valdez has the size that Dave Doeren's staff covets. He could be an early contributor the Pack not taking a corner in 2015. Obviously with any commitment this early, the staff will have their work cut out for them in retaining the pledge.
