NC State picked up a big verbal commitment from Sanderson four-star defensive tackle Alim McNeill on Saturday morning—and I don’t know if this is a sign of progress or what but the two top-rated players in NC State’s 2018 class (McNeill, running back Ricky Person) both go to high school in Raleigh.
McNeill is a big addition for the future, since State is losing so much depth up front to graduation following this season. He’s a consensus four-star recruit and regarded as one of the top 10 players in North Carolina. His offer sheet is pretty impressive: Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson, Penn State, Florida State, etc etc.
McNeill is listed at 6’2 272 by 247Sports, and as you might guess, he projects as an interior lineman. Kid’s got some scoot, though (that’s a very technical scouting phrase that all us pro scouts use), which is what makes him such a highly-regarded recruit to begin with. Sanderson put him all over the place last season, including fullback, defensive tackle, defensive end, linebacker, and night watchman.
