NC State picked up its second verbal commitment this month on Saturday when Orlando (FL) Jones High School lineman Devin Hayes verbaled to the Wolfpack during a visit. Jones is a consensus three-star prospect with offers from Rutgers, Wake Forest, Syracuse, and South Florida, among others.
Hayes is listed at 6’6 and 250 pounds by 247Sports, and while he has spent his time in high school playing defensive end, he will begin his college career at offensive tackle. Regardless of where he ends up on the field, there’s no question he’ll need to add some bulk in order to develop into a regular contributor.
Hayes is the first lineman to commit to NC State in the 2018 recruiting cycle and also the first prospect from Florida to join the class. He’s currently ranked as the No. 179 prospect in that state.
The Wolfpack has eight commitments in its 2018 recruiting class.
