Four-star dual threat quarterback Dakereon Joyner has been down to NC State and South Carolina for a while now—officially, anyway—and on Sunday afternoon made his college announcement. Joyner, who is from South Carolina, announced that he will be a Gamecock.

This was a widely-expected decision from Joyner, who reportedly told both coaching staffs of his decision weeks ago but wanted to wait until Father’s Day to make his decision public. He’s a top-five prospect in the state of South Carolina and the No. 227 overall prospect in the country.

NC State already has a verbal of its own from a 2018 four-star quarterback: Elite 11 finalist Devin Leary, who has been committed to the Wolfpack since early April. But his status has become somewhat questionable of late, and the most recent crystal ball picks have him landing at either Penn State or ... Syracuse?

Still, with Leary in the fold at this point, Joyner’s addition never seemed particularly likely.
