NC State added to its 2018 class this weekend when defensive lineman Davontae McCrae gave his verbal commitment to the Wolfpack. McCrae is a consensus three-star prospect from Miami, and he holds offers from Louisville, UCF, Tennessee, Wake Forest, and ECU, among plenty others. UCF might have been the biggest competitor for McCrae.
Glad to Say ❗️ I'm going to Raleigh ⚪️ ⚪️ ⚪️‼️

McCrae is 6’5 and around 255 pounds, and he plays on both sides of the ball for his high school team. He is listed as a defensive tackle recruit but looks better at defensive end, at least at this point in his career.
The nice thing about bringing in dudes like this is that they could potentially fit into a number of places—McCrae is slotted for defensive tackle for the time being, but he could slide out to the end or he could flip over to the offensive side. He already has at least some experience playing each of these positions.
