NC State has four verbal commitments for 2019, and all four are from North Carolina. The latest is consensus three-star linebacker prospect Jaylon Scott, who announced his commitment to the Wolfpack on Wednesday night. Scott picked NC State over Clemson, Duke, Maryland, and Syracuse, among others.

Scott is listed at 6-2 and 220 pounds by 247Sports—he is the No. 59 outside linebacker prospect according to the 247 composite, and the No. 37 overall prospect in North Carolina. As a member of what has lately been a dominant Shelby High School program, Scott already has experience playing at Carter-Finley Stadium—in high school championship games. Shelby won its fourth straight 2AA title when Scott was a sophomore.
