NC State picks up verbal commitment from 3-star safety Jakeen Harris

Turn on that red light.

Dave Doeren has got some news that you will be very Jakeen to hear. (Sorry.) NC State picked up a verbal commitment on Tuesday night from Georgia safety prospect Jakeen Harris, who plays for St. Benedictine in Savannah.

Harris visited NC State this past weekend (and UNC as well), according to The Wolfpacker. He had an exceptional junior season in 2017, posting more than 100 tackles while picking off five passes. And as is often the case with FBS-caliber players, he’s been playing on both sides of the ball. Near as I can tell he is expected to play on the defensive side for the Wolfpack, though.

Which seems to be the natural place for him based on a quick look at his highlights.

Harris also holds offers from UCF, Boston College, USF, Minnesota, Cincinnati, UNC, and Kansas State. I’m guessing he’ll continue picking up power-conference offers over the next few months.
