It’s been rather quiet on the football recruiting front since the season started, but NC State got some good news earlier in the week when consensus three-star linebacker Jayland Parker verbaled to the Wolfpack.

Parker said that NC State was always a “dream school” of his, citing Russell Wilson and Bradley Chubb as a couple guys he watched move from the Pack to the NFL. Smart kid, I love him already! Parker is a Georgia-native like Chubb.
And Parker has an impressive offer list from power-conference schools: Louisville, Pitt, Virginia Tech, Colorado (where he was once committed), Arizona, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Duke.
Parker is the 15th verbal commitment in NC State’s 2020 recruiting class and is the second-highest rated player in the class, per the 247Sports composite rankings. NC State’s class currently ranks 43rd nationally, which has a lot to do with its small size. In terms of average prospect rating, this class is in line with higher-ranked (and larger) classes State has pulled in recently.
