NC State landed a verbal commitment Tuesday afternoon from in-state safety prospect Chase Hattley, who chose the Wolfpack over South Carolina and Oklahoma. Says here he’s 6’3 and 205 already, so, um, hey my man, you want to just skip your last year of high school and join the Pack secondary this weekend? We have room.

Hattley is a three-star prospect in the composite recruiting rankings, rated the No. 48 safety prospect nationally and the No. 35 prospect in North Carolina. The evaluators at 247Sports like him a lot more than that, though, ranking him 22nd among all safeties and 19th among North Carolina prospects.

He picked off nine passes during his junior season at Panther Creek, and that is the sort of ball-hawking that State’s secondary could really use.

With Hattley’s addition, NC State’s 2021 class improves to No. 30 in the 247 Composite and sits as the fifth-best class in the ACC. That’s pretty impressive considering the slow start to this cycle.
