Two days after picking up a verbal from offensive tackle prospect Jaleel Davis, NC State has added a commitment from interior offensive lineman Thornton Gentry of Chapin, South Carolina. Gentry announced his decision on Twitter.

Gentry is listed at 6’4 and 282 pounds by 247Sports and is categorized as a center prospect by that service. He has a solid offer sheet that includes Virginia Tech, Missouri, Kansas State, Syracuse, and App State, among others. (Though, notably, neither Clemson nor South Carolina.
He is a consensus three-star prospect in the composite rankings, though 247 is higher on him than other services, rating him as a high-three-star player. 247 also rates him as one of the five best prospects in South Carolina.
Gentry is the seventh commitment in NC State’s 2021 class and the first from South Carolina.
