NC State adds verbal commitment from 3-star DB Sean Brown

A Father’s Day red light for Dave Doeren and staff as in-state defensive back Sean Brown announced his commitment to NC State this afternoon. Brown is a consensus three-star prospect in the 2021 class who plays for Hough High School.

Brown is the teammate of cornerback Mario Love, who committed to NC State back in April. Not surprisingly, Love was pretty happy about Sunday’s news.

Brown is listed at 6’1 and 190 pounds by 247Sports and is a safety prospect. He holds offers from several in-state programs—App State, Wake Forest, ECU, Charlotte—in addition to Louisville, Michigan State, and UConn.

Brown rounds out a nice recruiting weekend for the Pack that began with the addition of defensive end Trevali Price, and State is up now to 12 commits for 2021. Eight members of the class are from North Carolina.

I did plenty of fretting about this recruiting cycle earlier in the spring, but NC State’s class is basically right in line with Doeren’s traditional recruiting efforts in Raleigh. The ‘21 group is up to 37th in the Composite rankings, and its average prospect rating is a bit better than the 2020 class’s average. That’s solid work after last year’s disaster on the field.
