NC State picks up commitment from 2022 offensive lineman Rylan Vann

NCAA Football: North Carolina State at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

NC State got the ball rolling on its 2022 recruiting class on Wednesday with a verbal commitment from Cary High School offensive lineman Rylan Vann. Rylan is the brother of NC State freshman defensive lineman Davin Vann, who was also a standout at Cary High.

Rylan is listed at 6’1 and 275 pounds by 247Sports. During his sophomore season with Cary, he played on both sides of the line but unlike his brother, his future appears to be on offense. He has played guard and as a junior he played center, and unless he’s planning to grow a few inches, he will be an interior lineman at the college level as well.

NC State was Rylan’s first scholarship offer, last summer, and he does not yet have a composite recruiting rank, though 247Sports has him as a three-star prospect and top-30 player in North Carolina. If I remember correctly, Davin Vann was similarly unheralded when he committed to State only to shoot up the ratings and become a four-star prospect later in the process.
