NC State is off and running in June with the verbal commitment of class of 2022 quarterback MJ Morris, who chose the Wolfpack over Georgia Tech and Nebraska. Morris is a four-star recruit in the 247Sports composite rankings.

Morris is also a baseball player, and based on the above image, I wonder if he’s also hoping to play for Elliott Avent’s club. (If Avent gave a helping hand in his recruitment, that wouldn’t be surprising, either.)
Morris hails from Pace Academy in Atlanta, and is listed at 6’2 and 190 pounds by 247Sports. He’s a consensus top-15 quarterback in the ‘22 class and possesses the mobility necessary to make him a dual-threat QB in college.
Here’s what Morris had to say about NC State a couple of weeks ago:
I have a great relationship with coach Beck and coach Doeren. They have not only built a great relationship with me but my mom and my dad and that’s special and means a lot to me. I don’t think you can find a better head coach than coach Doeren. He has put 4-5 quarterbacks in the NFL and for me, I call NC State ‘QBU’ (QB University) and that’s obviously my goal too.
