The red light was back on over the weekend thanks to the verbal commitment of defensive lineman Davin Jackson, who is from Sumter, SC. Jackson, who is currently rehab a torn ACL, is a consensus three-star prospect in the 247 Composite rankings.

Jackson visited NC State in June and has also taken visits to South Carolina, Syracuse, App State, and Coastal Carolina recently. The Gamecocks offered him a scholarship while he was on campus.
He’s listed at 6’2 and 275 pounds and played both as an edge rusher and a defensive tackle in his last high school season, though based on his highlights, he spent more time on the interior. He also got some snaps on the offensive side as a run-blocker and tight end, but his future figures to lie on defense.
NC State has three defensive linemen committed for 2022 and the class overall is defense-heavy, with eight of 12 commits coming from that side of the ball. State’s class is ranked 38th nationally.
