Wolfpack continue recruiting momentum with commitments from RB Jordan Waters and DB Tamarcus Cooley

NC State adds instant impact players on both sides of the ball

NCAA Football: Clemson at North Carolina State Ken Ruinard-USA TODAY Sports

A big recruiting day for NC State just keeps rolling with the Wolfpack picking up commitments from Duke transfer RB Jordan Waters and Maryland transfer DB Tamarcus Cooley.

Waters rushed for 1,624 yards and 23 TDs and hauled in 30 passes for 305 yards and 1 TD over 50 games in his Duke career, including a big 2023 season where he accounted for 883 scrimmage yards and 12 TDs. I suppose we can now forgive him for that 83-yard touchdown run against the Wolfpack earlier this year.

Hailing from Fairmont, NC, Waters has averaged 5.0 yards/carry and 10.2 yards/reception in his career, figures which top all current NC State players not named K.C. Concepcion. He’ll have one season of eligibility remaining.

Cooley is a local product from Rolesville who was a three-star recruiting coming out of high school with offers at the time from NC State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Penn State, and Tennessee among others. He played in four games this year for the Terrapins, meaning his redshirt is intact and he will have four years of eligibility remaining. The 5’11, 191 pounder will likely slot in to the Nickel position within Tony Gibson’s defense.
