After Saturday's slate of games, NC State's bowl outlook remains the same: the Wolfpack will likely be slotted into the Belk Bowl. There are still some factors in play that could alter this, but for now State to Charlotte looks solid.
Joe Giglio made his picks after the ACC title game and he's got the Pack in Charlotte:
With FSU's win here's my projection for ACC bowl order headed into Selection Sunday: CFP: FSU Orange: GT Citrus: Clem Russell: Louisville— Joe Giglio (@jwgiglio) December 7, 2014
Music City: ND Belk: NC State Pinstripe: Duke/BC Sun: BC/Duke Military: VT Shreveport: Miami Detroit: UNC St. Pete: Pitt— Joe Giglio (@jwgiglio) December 7, 2014
Assuming the ACC hangs on to that Citrus Bowl slot--this is likely, but not guaranteed--then I think we're pretty much set. If the B1G retains the Citrus Bowl, then the ACC no longer has spots for all of its bowl-eligible teams (Notre Dame included), and that's when some shuffling could happen.
What that might mean for NC State is tough to guess. Could still result in a Belk Bowl trip for the Wolfpack. Hopefully we won't have to worry about it.
The CFP committee announces the playoff pairings at 12:30 p.m. ET on ESPN (I'm gonna go on record with (1) Oregon vs. (4) Ohio State, and (2) Alabama vs. (3) FSU). At 2:45, they release the rest of the final top 25 and announce the other big New Year's day bowl pairings, including the Orange. The ACC will hold its own selection show at 5:30, which is when we will find out our fate. (Barring info leaks, of course.) We'll have an open thread for that ACC selection show later on.
