NC State will face Virginia Tech in Blacksburg on a Friday night this fall, according to a report from David Teel of the Daily Press. The ACC's television contract with ESPN requires the league to stage a few Friday games each season, and it looks like the Pack is one of the victims of that agreement in 2015.
The ACC has not released its full schedule for 2015 yet--that is set to be announced on Thursday morning. We don't know the date of the Virginia Tech game yet, though it won't be in September since that month is occupied by all of State's non-conference games
The known (non-conf) NCSU football dates are: 9/5 vs. Troy 9/12 vs. Eastern Kentucky 9/19 at ODU 9/26 at South Alabama— Ryan Tice (@RyanTice) January 28, 2015
Sooooo ... NC State football on a Friday, huh. Not my favorite idea in the world--unless the Friday football involves teams other than mine; then it's a fine idea. I'm wondering if this hurts NC State's chances of getting (and hopefully hosting) a Thursday night game. Per Teel, Virginia Tech is likely to play a Thursday nighter as well (at GT), so that's an encouraging sign.
