Interview: NC State Linebacker Commit Garrett Hooker

We recently had the opportunity to ask the 2016 commit a few questions.

Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

Class of 2016 Ledford Senior High linebacker Garrett Hooker committed to NC State back in June, which you can read about here in case you missed it. The Ledford star compiled a rather ridiculous 207 tackles as a junior, and could be even more productive as a senior. I recently got the the chance to ask him a few questions about his game and his future at NC State.

What was it about NC State that sold you and made you want to come to Raleigh?

When I got to Raleigh it was like home. The coaches, players, facilities, I loved everything about it.

As a recruit, do you pay any attention to things like star ratings and rankings?

No, stars mean nothing to me. I know guys with no stars that can absolutely ball. If you can play, you can play.

What parts of your game do you consider your strengths and what do you hope to improve on on the most during your senior season?

Going into my senior season I was working on my sideline to sideline play, and I have. My strengths are my strength and my size.

How do you think your game will transform after the work you put in to slim down and get faster?

I will be a lot more mobile now that I lost weight. I can get around a lot better.

Do you have any specific goals for your senior year and into the future at NC State?

My goals are to win a championship at my high school and make a difference at State.

Who is your favorite football player of all time and why?

Patrick Willis. His game's perfection. Him on film is awesome. I watch him every night to pick up little things.

What's one random thing you want State fans to know about you?

One random thing? I play poker a lot haha.
