It’s been a confusing season in Chestnut Hill, what with Boston College looking mostly lifeless during its 0-4 start to ACC play and then suddenly morphing into a pretty solid team. The Eagles hadn’t scored more than 28 points in a game prior to their contest at Louisville in mid-October, and since then, they’ve not been held to fewer than 35. Go figure.
NC State is a modest three-point favorite to beat the Eagles this week, which is certainly a much tighter window than anybody would have figured a month ago. The Eagles have won three in a row, including a couple of blowout wins and that initially head-scratching scoring outburst at Louisville. They’ve also rushed for 200+ in their last three.
So this is shaping up like a more difficult challenge for State’s defense than anticipated and the timing is not great, with the Wolfpack coming off an emotionally draining loss to Clemson. I have absolutely no idea what is going to happen in this one.
