Want to know why we’re laughing at those schools? Because they passed on a kid who scored 59 touchdowns as a senior in high school. A kid who was Mr. Football for the State of North Carolina. A kid who rushed 109 times for 1,404 yards (12.9 yards/carry) and 39 TDs that year and also caught 49 passes for 932 yards (19.0 yards/reception) and 16 TDs more.
They all passed on him because they either thought he was too small or they weren’t imaginative enough to figure out how or why to use a guy who scores touchdowns, then scores more touchdowns, and follows that up by scoring a few more touchdowns just because they come so easy to him.
The recruiting coordinators for each of those schools... ha...
At least there’s company in the Idiot Lounge. Those guys can all comfort each other and tell their own unique, yet boringly similar, version of how they passed on such a guy. Comfort in numbers and all that sort of stuff. Is the coffee warm, at least?
Either way... 194 receptions, 1805 receiving yards (9.3 yards/reception) 19 receiving TDs, 176 carries, 1087 rushing yards (6.2 yards/carry), and 27 rushing TDs, and a lot of really awesome memories later, I (and every other NC State fan) am glad that all those schools passed on Jaylen Samuels. You want to pass on a guy who’s going to score a touchdown every eight times he touches the ball in college? Don’t figure a guy like that could fit in your offense? Fine with me. He can come be a legend here instead.
Damn, it’s been fun watching JaySam score TDs at a ridiculous rate. It’s been fun watching him do... well... JaySam things.
Keep doing JaySam things forever, man. Thank you for doing them in the red and white.
