NC State is unranked in the preseason AP top 25, but as with the Coaches Poll, the team is not far outside of the picture. The Wolfpack received top-25 nods from eight voters and a total of 26 points, putting the Pack at No. 30 overall.
The voter most bullish on the Pack is Michael Lev of the Arizona Daily Star, who has NC State at No. 20 on his ballot. ESPN’s Rece Davis has NC State at No. 21 on his ballot. Two of the media members who ranked State work locally (Sammy Batten, Lauren Brownlow), but State also got support from voters in Kansas, New Mexico, and Idaho, along with Lev in Arizona. We’re nationwide!
The overall results are unsurprisingly similar to the Coaches Poll, with Florida State at No. 3, Clemson at No. 5, Louisville at No. 16, Miami at No. 18, and Virginia Tech rounding things out for the ACC at No. 21.
