As I write this ... [glances at watch] ... it is still August and NC State has not played a football game yet. It’s almost game week, but we’re not there yet. So close, though, so close. This is easily one of the most exciting times of the sports season, fueled entirely by anticipation.
Let that anticipation win, and don’t think about it. I’m not trying to be out here sounding like a low-rent motivational speaker. (With that said, I can be the keynote at your corporation’s next event for a very small fee.) I’m just sayin’, y’know, don’t worry about the details; this is no time for a rational take on NC State sports!
When possible, sports are supposed to be fun. This is fun.
My FINAL @CFBPlayoff picks:
— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) August 25, 2017
Alabama
Ohio State
Stanford
NC State
Cole and NC State have been best friends for a while now and that’s caused a mild regional head explosion event, which is understandable. I’m not saying I don’t get it; I do. What I am saying is who cares? This is what the preseason is all about.
Embrace the love, don’t think for one second about it, and then go smile as you remember we have a football game in eight days. Those are the only necessary keys to what remains of August. We’ll all be watching NC State football very soon, and it’s a very good football team, by the way, and not long after that we’ll be tailgating at Carter-Finley with old friends and family and new friends. The rest is unimportant detail at this point.
