NC State a big underdog at Florida State despite Deondre Francois injury

NCAA Football: Furman at North Carolina State Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

Florida State lost its starting quarterback for the season in Week 1 and haven’t even played a game since then, but these things don’t seem to have shaken Vegas’ confidence in them for this week. NC State enters this week as an 11-point underdog to the Seminoles.

This is a difficult game to figure for the reasons I mentioned above—will three weeks of off time have FSU out of sorts a bit? Maybe they will be a bit rusty at the outset, though that doesn’t necessarily matter, either.

We have only a week’s worth of data on the Seminoles, but I feel pretty confident in saying that their defense is good—probably good enough for them to overcome whatever mistakes the new starting quarterback forces the team to endure. They were outstanding against Alabama, limiting the Tide to 269 total yards on 4.5 per play. No doubt the biggest challenge that NC State’s offense has faced this season.
