NC State vs. South Carolina game thread / Saturday open thread

NCAA Football: Independence Bowl-North Carolina State vs Vanderbilt Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

Yes sir, it’s game day and what a fine game day it is indeed. No more conjecturin’ required, let’s go see what the football says.

NC State opens its 2017 at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN against South Carolina, but until then there will be a few games of interest, though the key word there is few. UNC opens with Cal at 12:20 p.m. and Texas plays Maryland at noon, but there is little else on the early portion of the day’s slate worth mentioning.

This being Week 1, most FBS teams are playing tomato cans—Clemson has Kent State, Penn State plays Akron, Miami is playing Bethune-Cookman, etc. But hey, there will be college football games kicking off from noon to midnight, and that’s the important thing.

Up and at them.
