NC State cornerback Mike Stevens probable for Syracuse game

Stevens would be making his season debut.

NC State cornerback Mike Stevens has not played a snap this season after suffering a leg injury during fall camp, but the Wolfpack’s latest injury report is encouraging. Stevens is listed as probable, which—heh—probably means that he participated in the majority of practice this week.

Stevens was meant to be the veteran leader of the secondary this season but unfortunately has already lost a third of the season and he’ll have to get back up to speed in the thick of league play. NC State has of course suffered casualties elsewhere within that group; Dexter Wright has been the noticeable absence, and there is a chance he could play this weekend as well. He’ll be a game-time decision, per Dave Doeren.

So far State’s stitched-together secondary has been okay, but obviously the more depth they can find there, the better. The Wolfpack will face experienced multi-year starters over the next couple of games, so this would be a very good time to get well.
