This is brilliant.
And we have confirmation. Looks INCREDIBLE. Thanks to @Thewall2418 for the pic. pic.twitter.com/H8gtXjUyBu

(A big tip of the cap to Drew Johnson and Layton Smith. Go follow them on Twitter.)
I admit at first glance I did not think this was real, but it is very real, and in my opinion, it’s very good. I just could not process it at first; we haven’t really seen anything like this with football, and the block S has been such a mainstay. But this midfield upgrade is definitely real.
This both matches the basketball program’s branding shift and the football program’s recent emphasis on this logo as its helmet emblem, but could be this all just boils down to superstition. NC State is on a winning streak and Tuffy has been riding along for all of it this year. Let’s keep doing that.
Regardless, it’s a needed change, it’ll help with recruiting, and I hope it’s permanent. The reasons for the change are the same as they were with basketball: the block S is easily forgettable; this, not so much. This is distinctive. Looks good, too.
