NC State wide receiver Stephen Louis will have season-ending ankle surgery

It’s been nothing but bad luck for Steph this fall.

Stephen Louis has been a poster boy of bad luck this season—he missed the season-opener because of a leg injury, he got crushed in the Georgia State game with a violent hit, he endured a hit in the BC game that resulted in a targeting call, and now he’s finished for the year after suffering a significant ankle injury.

Dave Doeren said Monday afternoon that Louis probably won’t be back fully healthy until January at the earliest, and that’s a hell of a shame. Steph is a really talented guy, and he’s been great as an all-purpose contributor in limited snaps this season.

It just sucks that his college career has to end this way. Maybe there is an opportunity to get a waiver for a sixth year of eligibility, but if not, this is the last we’ve seen of him in an NC State uniform.

And he was just starting to develop in a Jaylen Samuels-lite role, too. I would have liked to see where that went this year. But we’ll always have this, at least:
