Some of the good vibes are back after NC State’s blowout win at Louisville, but they’ll be just as quickly gone again if the Wolfpack doesn’t win in Chapel Hill this weekend. The Wolfpack is a solid 6.5-point favorite to beat the Tar Heels, who have just one win over an FBS team this season, and none since September.
That probably overstates the degree of UNC’s struggles this season a tad—the Heels have lost three league games by one score or less, including an overtime loss at Syracuse. They still have enough weapons to create problems, and actually on a per-play basis the UNC offense has been much better this year than last.
I wouldn’t expect it to be easy this weekend, but Dave Doeren’s teams have fared well in Chapel Hill during his tenure at State. The home team has only won once in the last five games between these two.
