NC State didn’t play great but nonetheless blew out the hell of Florida State, which as it turns out, is not very good. Man, it’s hard to begin the compliments for the defense or the offense—State ‘s offense set the tone, but its defense really made up for the offense’s mistakes.
Little of the first half made sense, but State managed to take advantage with field position and turnovers to establish a big lead, and despite being awful at turning obvious touchdowns into field goals, it didn’t end up mattering.
There were deep shots; there were droughts. It didn’t work all the time, but it did keep Florida State off balance most of the time.
Florida State was mostly terrible, mostly one-dimensional, mostly needing a hand to help it find the vague point of the end zone. You can help people only so far. FSU found that help, but only sporadically, and there was no digging out of the well.
That this win comes at the expense of Florida State, and its fans, is hysterical. They’ve earned it, over a century of insecurity. It’s NC State 47, FSU 28, by the way, if anyone was wondering.
